Our Story

Started with a few strands and a lot of questions

Dlux Pearl began in 2012 with a small import of freshwater pearl strands and more questions than we could answer. Where exactly did these come from? Is this shell genuine? Will next month’s batch match this one?

Rather than guess, we went to find out. So we buy direct now — from family-owned pearl farms whose owners we’ve met, whose water we’ve seen, and whose pace of work we respect. It is slower than ordering from a distributor, and it keeps our stock honest.

Today we serve two sorts of customer: people who make jewelry themselves, and shops that sell the materials to make it with. Both get the same thing from us — accurate descriptions, consistent batches, and someone who actually knows the product replying to the message.

What we work with

Pearl and shell are what we know best, though most orders end up with a bit of everything else from the bench too.

Pearls

Freshwater pearls by the strand, as singles, or as drops — loose, drilled and ready to set. Natural colors, described as they are rather than as they might sell better.

Mother of pearl & abalone

Discs, drops, cabochons and carved pieces in white, black and landscape mother of pearl, plus abalone with the flash of green and blue it is named for.

Beads, tools & components

Beads for stringing, findings and components for assembly, and the small tools that make a job possible — enough to finish a piece without calling three other suppliers.

Two ways to buy

One strand or a shelf-full of restock: same stock, same source, same standards.

Retail, for makers

Buy what a project needs, in ones and twos. No minimum spend, no membership, no hoops to jump through.

Shop retail

Wholesale, for shops and studios

Run a bead store, a craft shop or a design studio? We can supply pearls, mother of pearl, abalone, beads and components at wholesale pricing, with reorder quantities that hold steady from batch to batch.

Where It Comes From

We only source from family-owned, ethically operated pearl farms — and we mean that literally, because we know the owners.

Some of those relationships go back to our very first order in 2012. That direct line is the main reason we can stand behind a strand: we know how it was harvested and whether it is what the photograph claims.

If a batch does not hold up, it simply does not come in.

What you can count on

100% Natural

Organic and authentic material only. No plated glass passed off as pearl, no dyed shell sold as the natural thing.

Known Origin

Family farms, personally vetted, ethically worked. Ask us where a piece came from and you will get an answer, not a shrug.

Consistent Stock

Descriptions that match what arrives, and batches similar enough that a design you make today still works next season.

Custom Designs

Your design, cut in mother of pearl

Ask about a run

Shell takes fine detail beautifully, so we produce to order as well as from stock: your shape, your pattern, your drill work.

Geometric inlays, carved florals, pendants in a size nobody carries, blanks for a collection still on the drawing board — send a sketch or a photograph and we will quote it.

Custom runs need a minimum quantity before it is worth the farm setting up. That number depends on the piece and how much cutting the design asks for, so tell us roughly how many you need and we will be straight with you about whether it is practical.

Come have a look

The shop is where the stock actually lives, and it is the best way to see what a strand or a disc looks like in the hand. If you are buying for a store, or you have a design in mind that we do not carry yet, say the word before you order and we will sort out pricing and feasibility with you.
